Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the break of Day 1 By the Nights twice five; 2 And by the even and the odd, 3 The night as it advances, 4 Is this not a sufficient oath for intelligent people? 5 Did you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) not see (thought) how your Lord dealt with 'Ad (people)? 6 [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars, 7 whose like has never been created in any other land. 8 And Thamood, who hewed out the rocks of the valley? 9 And with Pharaoh, firm of might, 10 All of them committed excesses in their lands, 11 and worked much corruption therein? 12 So your Lord poured a scourge of punishment over them. 13 Most surely your Lord is watching. 14 So man, whenever his Lord tests him by giving him honour and favours – thereupon he says, “My Lord has honoured me.” 15 But when He tests him by restricting his provision, he says: 'My Lord has humiliated me' 16 Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the needy. 18 and you greedily devour the inheritance of the weak, 19 and you ardently love wealth. 20 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: "Alas the woe! Would that I had sent ahead something in my life." 24 So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. 25 And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers]. 26 (On the other hand it will be said): “O serene soul! 27 "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! 28 Join My servants. 29 And enter My Paradise." 30
