The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it setteth, 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)], 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When the Lote-tree was covered over with what it was covered over; 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 Have you considered Lat and 'Uzza, 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
