The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 Do you, of all people, approach males, 165 And leave ye your spouses your Lord hath created for you? Aye! ye are a people trespassing. 166 They said: "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will be expelled (from the city)." 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 My Lord, deliver me and my people from that they do.' 169 We saved him and all of his family, 170 Except an old woman who lingered behind. 171 Then We destroyed the rest of them, 172 We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)! 173 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 174 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might Most Merciful. 175
