The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 purify your garments; 4 Pollution shun! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and sons standing before him, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 May he be condemned! 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he looked round; 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
