Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. (Angel Jibreel – peace be upon him.) 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 (a revelation) in clear Arabic language, 195 And lo! it is in the Scriptures of the men of old. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 Had We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 they say: "Can we be granted some respite?" 203 Do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! 206 Of what avail shall their enjoyment be to them? 207 And We did not destroy any town but it had (its) warners, 208 as a reminder from Us: We are never unjust. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 It behoveth them not, nor they can. 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 who sees you when you stand 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets - it is the seduced who follow them. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and reply back (in poetry) to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims). And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
