The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when souls are united, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 that hide, 16 The closing night, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
