The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
