The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 on fine parchment; 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 The roof raised high, 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 none can avert that. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
