The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Nigh unto men has drawn their reckoning, while they in heedlessness are yet turning away; 1 No mention comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play 2 their hearts are diverted. The harmdoers mutter to one another: 'Is this anything else but a human like yourself? What, will you follow sorcery with your eyes open' 3 He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." 4 Yet they say: "These are only confused dreams," or rather: "He has invented them;" or: "He is only a poet. Let him therefore bring a miracle to us as the earlier (apostles) were sent with." 5 Not one habitation that We destroyed before them had believed. So how can they believe? 6 And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. 7 We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals. 8 Then We fulfilled to them the promise, and We saved them and those whom We willed, but We destroyed Al-Musrifun (i.e. extravagants in oppression, polytheism and in sin). 9 We have certainly sent down to you a Book in which is your mention. Then will you not reason? 10
