۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them. 53 He said, "Both you and your fathers have certainly been in error." 54 They said: Bringest thou unto us the truth, or art thou some jester? 55 He said: "In fact it was your Lord, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them; and I bear witness to this. 56 By Allah, I will certainly outwit your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone' 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 (When the people came to the temple and saw the broken idols) they asked each other, "Who has done this to our gods? He certainly is an unjust person". 59 They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham." 60 They said, 'Bring him before the people's eyes; haply they shall bear witness.' 61 (On Abraham's arrival) they said: "Abraham, are you he who has done this to our gods?" 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 So they returned one to another, and they said, 'Surely it is you who are the evildoers.' 64 Thereafter they were made to turn over upon their heads, saying, assuredly thou knowest that they speak not. 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim; 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 And We rescued him and Lot (and brought them) to the land which We have blessed for (all) peoples. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in superfluity, and every one made We righteous 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Verily he was of the righteous. 75
