Who does greater wrong than he who invents a lie against God and denies His signs? Assuredly, the wrongdoers will not succeed. 21 And on the day when We will resurrect everyone together, then say to the polytheists, “Where are those partners (your false deities) whom you professed?” 22 Then they shall have no proving, but to say, 'By God our Lord, we never associated other gods with Thee.' 23 See how they lie against their own souls, and that which they forged has passed away from them. 24 And among them are those who listen to you, but We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. Even when they come to you arguing with you, those who disbelieve say, "This is not but legends of the former peoples." 25 And they forbid it, and keep afar from it, and it is only themselves they destroy, but they are not aware. 26 If thou couldst but see when they are confronted with the Fire! They will say: "Would that we were but sent back! Then would we not reject the signs of our Lord, but would be amongst those who believe!" 27 Yea! manifest hath become unto them that which they were erst wont to hide. And were they sent back they would surely return to that which was prohibited to them, and verily they are perfect liars. 28 And they say: there is naught but our life of the world, nor are we to be raised. 29 If you could but see when they will be held (brought and made to stand) in front of their Lord! He will say: "Is not this (Resurrection and the taking of the accounts) the truth?" They will say: "Yes, by our Lord!" He will then say: "So taste you the torment because you used not to believe." 30
