We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment, 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the 'Alamin (mankind, and jinns) [during the time of Musa (Moses)] with knowledge, 32 And gave signs to them in which there was a clear trial. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Surely the Day of Decision shall be their appointed time, all together, 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to another, nor shall any be helped, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
