He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, pure. 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
