The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
