If anyone withdraws himself from remembrance of (Allah) Most Gracious, We appoint for him an evil one, to be an intimate companion to him. 36 And lo! they surely turn them from the way of Allah, and yet they deem that they are rightly guided; 37 Till, when he cometh unto Us, he saith (unto his comrade): Ah, would that between me and thee there were the distance of the two horizons - an evil comrade! 38 And since you were unjust, it will not profit you this day that you are sharers in the chastisement. 39 CANST THOU, perchance, [O Muhammad,] make the deaf hear, or show the right way to the blind or to such as are obviously lost in error? 40 And if We take thee away, We shall surely take vengeance on them. 41 Or (if) We show thee that wherewith We threaten them; for lo! We have complete command of them. 42 So hold thou fast to the Revelation sent down to thee; verily thou art on a Straight Way. 43 Surely it is a Reminder to thee and to thy people; and assuredly you will be questioned. 44 And ask thou Our apostles whom We sent before thee: appointed We gods, beside the Compassionate, to be worshipped? 45
