And Harun (Aaron) indeed had said to them beforehand: "O my people! You are being tried in this, and verily, your Lord is (Allah) the Most Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order." 90 'We will not cease,' they said, 'to cleave to it, until Moses returns to us.') 91 But (Moses) said: "O Aaron, when you saw that they had gone astray, what hindered you 92 from [abandoning them and] following me? Hast thou, then, [deliberately] disobeyed my commandment?" 93 He said: O son of my mother! seize me not by my beard nor by my head; surely I was afraid lest you should say: You have caused a division among the children of Israel and not waited for my word. 94 Said [Moses]: "What, then, didst thou have in view, O Samaritan?" 95 He said: l saw that which they saw not; so I seized a handful from the footstep of the messenger, and then cast it; thus my soul embellished the affair to me. 96 Said [Moses]; "Begone, then! And behold, it shall be thy lot to say throughout [thy] life, 'Touch me not! But, verily, [in the life to come] thou shalt be faced with a destiny from which there will be no escape! And [now] look at this deity of thine to whose worship thou hast become so devoted: we shall most certainly burn it, and then scatter [whatever remains of] it far and wide over the sea! 97 Your God is only Allah, the One other than whom there is no god. He comprehendeth everything in knowledge. 98 Thus We tell you, (Muhammad), the stories of the past and We have given you the Quran. 99 Whoso turneth away from it, he verily will bear a burden on the Day of Resurrection, 100 They will abide in this (state): and grievous will the burden be to them on that Day,- 101 the Day when the Trumpet shall be sounded and We shall muster the sinners, their eyes turned blue with terror. 102 They shall whisper among themselves: "You stayed on the earth barely ten days." 103 We know well what they will say when the most upright among them will say: "You did not tarry more than a day." 104
