Nay! By the moon 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning for people -- 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
