The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
