Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 As We fashioned jinns before from intense radiated heat. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 Said He, 'What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?' 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 The Lord said: "Then get out of here; you are rejected, 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 He said: my Lord! respite me then till the Day whereon they will be raised up. 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 "Till the predetermined time." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 Allah said: this is the path leading unto Me straight. 41 "For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee." 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 It has seven gates, and through each gate a portion of them belong. 44
