Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 they used to sleep but little by night, 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 there are signs for firm believers. Do you not see then? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
