The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
