Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 A warning to mankind, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
