The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
True are the words of God the Almighty.
