The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
