And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
