Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Yet, going into the blazing fire. 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 and raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
