Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
