He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he feareth 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
