(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 And of Ibrahim, who was most obedient? 37 That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another- 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 and that He Himself created the two kinds, male and female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 And that it is He Who earlier destroyed the tribe of Aad? 50 And Thamud (people). He spared none of them. 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 He (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) is a Herald of Warning, like the former Heralds of Warning. 56 The Imminent is near at hand; 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 And you are lost in play! 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
