The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 When whither go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
