And Aaron had already told them before [the return of Moses], "O my people, you are only being tested by it, and indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey my order." 90 They said "So long as Moses does not come back we are not going to give it up, and we will remain devoted to it." 91 [Moses] said, "O Aaron, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray, 92 So that you did not follow me? Did you then disobey my order? 93 He said: O son of my mother! Clutch not my beard nor my head! I feared lest thou shouldst say: Thou hast caused division among the Children of Israel, and hast not waited for my word. 94 He said: What was then your object, O Samiri? 95 He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me." 96 [Moses] said, "Then go. And indeed, it is [decreed] for you in [this] life to say, 'No contact.' And indeed, you have an appointment [in the Hereafter] you will not fail to keep. And look at your 'god' to which you remained devoted. We will surely burn it and blow it into the sea with a blast. 97 Your Allah is only Allah, there is no god but He; He comprehends all things in (His) knowledge. 98 This is how We relate the former tidings to you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him); and We have given you a Remembrance* from Ourselves. (*The Holy Qur’an.) 99 Whosoever turns away from it, upon the Day of Resurrection He shall bear a fardel, 100 [Abiding] eternally therein, and evil it is for them on the Day of Resurrection as a load - 101 The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed. 102 Mutterin among themselves: ye tarried not save ten days. 103 We know well what they will say to one another: We also know that even the most cautious in his estimate will say: "You lived in the world no more than a day." 104
