And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
