Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 who gave a little, and then stopped? 34 Does he have knowledge of the hidden, so he can foresee? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another- 38 That man can have nothing but what he strives for; 39 and that his work is surely seen 40 Then he will be fully repaid for it? 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 It is He who grants people temporary and durable wealth. 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And He overthrew the Cities of the Plain, 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The imminent Hour has drawn near, 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 and do you laugh, and do you not weep, 60 While ye amuse yourselves? 61 So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]. ۩ 62
