The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On couches, gazing, 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their own followers they returned exulting. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
