The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 Behold, their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 "And do ye get for yourselves fine buildings in the hope of living therein (for ever)? 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 I fear for you the chastisement of an Awesome Day." 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 We will not be subjected to any chastisement." 138 In this there is evidence (of the Truth), yet most of them do not have any faith. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
