The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
