He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And he fears, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
