The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce! 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 on a great day 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A written record. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
