A throng of the ancients 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 And those on the Left Hand Who will be those on the Left Hand? 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 and a shade of thick, pitch-black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor agreeable. 44 For, behold, in times gone by they were wont to abandon themselves wholly to the pursuit of pleasures, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 and will have to fill your bellies therewith, 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 Drinkers even as the drinking of thirsty camels. 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 We have created you, why do you not then assent? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone 60 That We may substitute others like unto you and produce you into that which ye know not. 61 You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed? 62 Have you seen what you sow? 63 Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 Verily we are undone. 66 Nay, but we are deprived! 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 [It comes down sweet - but] were it Our will, We could make it burningly salty and bitter: why, then, do you not give thanks [unto Us]? 70 Have you thought about the fire you kindle? 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
