Nay, by the Moon 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 Warn the men. 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
