The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Mecca) 1 And thou art a freeman of this City;- 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 Verily We have created man into toil and hardship. 4 Does man think that no one will ever have power over him? 5 (He boasts and shows off) saying, "I have spent a great deal of money (for the cause of God)". 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Did We not make two eyes for him? 8 One tongue, and two lips, 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 But he has not attempted the ascent. 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 It is the freeing of a slave 13 Or the giving of food in a day of hunger 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 or some needy person in distress, 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand. 19 with the Fire closed above them. 20
Almighty Allah's Truth.
