The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah Who has revealed to His servant the Book devoid of all crookedness; 1 (He hath made it) Straight (and Clear) in order that He may warn (the godless) of a terrible Punishment from Him, and that He may give Glad Tidings to the Believers who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a goodly Reward, 2 Where they will abide for ever; 3 Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": 4 They do not have any knowledge of it – nor did their forefathers; profound is the word that comes out of their mouths; they only speak a lie. 5 Perhaps you will destroy yourself out of grief because they disbelieve this Book. 6 Surely We have made whatever is on the earth an embellishment for it, so that We may try them (as to) which of them is best in works. 7 but We shall reduce all this to barren waste. 8 Do you think that the people of the Cave and the Inscription (the news or the names of the people of the Cave) were a wonder among Our Signs? 9 When the young men sought refuge in the cave, they said, "Our Lord, grant us Your special mercy and give us right guidance in our affair." 10 For many years We sealed up their hearing in the Cave, 11 and thereafter We revived them to find out which of the two parties could best calculate the length of their stay. 12
