[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 162 So fear Allah, and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 Go ye in, of all creatures, unto the males? 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 Said they: "Indeed, If thou desist not, O Lot, thou wilt most certainly be expelled [from this township]!" 167 [Lot] exclaimed: "Behold, I am one of those who utterly abhor your doings!" 168 My Lord, deliver me and my family from their wicked deeds." 169 We saved him and all of his family 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 173 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 174 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 175
