He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 olives, dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
