The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he approached and descended 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The [servant's] heart did not give the lie to what he saw: 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 And he certainly saw him in another descent 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 And Manat the other third? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25
