In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
