And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
