It is Allah that takes the souls (of men) at death; and those that die not (He takes) during their sleep: those on whom He has passed the decree of death, He keeps back (from returning to life), but the rest He sends (to their bodies) for a term appointed verily in this are Signs for those who reflect. 42 Or have they taken intercessors besides Allah? Say: what! even though they did not ever have control over anything, nor do they understand. 43 Say thou: Allah's is intercession altogether. His is the dominion of the heavens and the earth; then unto Him shall ye be returned. 44 When Allah is mentioned alone, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Everlasting Life shrink in aversion. But when those, other than Him, are mentioned, see, they are filled with glad tidings. 45 Say: O Allah! Creator of the heavens and the earth! Knower of the Invisible and the Visible! Thou wilt judge between Thy slaves concerning that wherein they used to differ. 46 And those who did wrong (the polytheists and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah), if they had all that is in earth and therewith as much again, they verily, would offer it to ransom themselves therewith on the Day of Resurrection from the evil torment, and there will become apparent to them from Allah, what they had not been reckoning. 47 The evil consequences of their deeds will become fully apparent to them, and what they had scoffed at will encompass them. 48 When hurt toucheth a man he calleth on us, and thereafter, when We have changed it unto a favour from Us, he saith: I have been given it so only by force of my knowledge. Aye! it is a trial, but most of them know not. 49 So said those that were before them; but that they earned did not avail them, 50 the very evil of their deeds recoiled upon them; today's wrongdoers shall also have the evil of their deeds recoil upon them: they will never be able to frustrate [Our plan]. 51 Do they not know that Allah enlarges and straitens the provision of whomsoever He pleases? Therein are Signs for those that believe. 52
