The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
