And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
