The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And stay away from idols. 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 it will be a hard day 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And children present [with him] 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
